You can download Garmin compatible maps from http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_Map_On_Garmin/Download

To install just copy the map file (named “gmapsupp.img”) to the /Garmin directory on your GPS. It’s really easy – enable USB transfer mode on GPS, plug cable in, then just copy the file.

I’m desperate! I’m hardly looking everywhere for an “idiotproof” tutorial explaining how to install your cyclemap of the french alps in my Garmin Map60Cx. No way to find something easy to understand (specially when not English mother language) I’m a paraglider and I would like to see if your beautiful topo map is suitable for my sport.
What a pity that such a good tool can be used only by a limited group of specialist in programming. So much work that can’t be used by a majority because too technical to understand.
Can you help me (us)?

Great cycling map!! Same question here…is it possible to get hold of this map? I’m planning to cycle from Newcastle to Bath to Isle of Wight in july and a map with cycling routes for my GPSMAP 60 would be very handy! I found files on http://thunderflames.org/garmin/ but not sure if these are the same. I’m using a Mac and not a programmer so it’s not easy to seeand manipulate the maps on my computer. But discovering all this is exciting!

Are these maps routeable? Can I use the autorouting with them?

Where do we download the OSM cycle map files? I would like to transfer it to my Garmin GPS.

On a separate note, the new Garmin 705s look like they may only take .gsx files, instead of .img files. I don’t know if this stops me from using the OSM.

Any help greatly appreciated.

This is a great step, however I’m interested in TrekBuddy maps. Does anyone know who runs http://osm.bandnet.org/browse/? I’d like to customise it a bit. Or maybe even extend it to cover TrekBuddy atlases and larger areas. I can’t even get the whole of Edinburgh into one map.
